The third part of the PADI Tec Deep Diver program is the Tec 50 course. If you’ve enjoyed your training as a technical diver through Tec 40 and Tec 45, then you’ll love working towards Tec 50. Why? Because diving becomes a lot more serious when you are trying to develop yourself to dive to 50 metres (165 feet). This course focuses on making sure you have the competency and skill to make extended, accelerated decompression stops using up to two gases. Getting this far isn’t easy, and this certification is just the beginning of your tech diving adventure.
The Tec 50 course varies a bit in terms of structure compared to the Tec 40 and Tec 45. Throughout two knowledge development sections, three practical application sessions and four open water dives, you will focus on planning and executing challenging technical dives. This course will help you practice your tech diving while teaching you about handling difficult emergencies and how to think more like a technical diver.
In order to enroll in the Tec 50 course with Total Diving, you must be a PADI Tec 45 diver with at least 100 logged dives. 20 of those dives must be done on enriched air nitrox at a depth deeper than 18 metres (60 feet). 15 other dives must be done at a depth deeper than 30 metres (100 feet). You must be at least 18 years old and have a medical statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months. This course is more challenging than other PADI Tec Diving courses, so you must be experienced, skilled, and mature enough to complete your certification.
