Becoming a PADI Self-Reliant Instructor means showing recreational divers the pleasure of being an independent diver. Your personal skills definitely should be mastered in order to show students how to improve themselves. This PADI Specialty Course counts towards your Master Scuba Diver Trainer recognition.
In this course, you’ll teach students how to assess potential risks, how to effectively use redundant equipment and necessary back-up gear, and much more. By becoming more proficient in calculating gas consumption rates, independence, and presentation techniques, you’ll be able to certify strong divers. PADI also includes a variety of different teaching techniques and marketing skills to make you a better professional.
PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors are able to take this course. Some OWSI/IDC candidates may participate in this training, but can only apply for their certification after passing an IE. You must also have completed your PADI Self-Reliant Diver Course, or an equivalent Instructors looking to take this course must have logged some self-reliant dives, and a minimum of 10 dives must be completed as course exit requirement.
