When Can We Dive?

The Quarry is open from the beginning of May until the end of October to allow you to have as much fun as possible. After all, what’s more fun than diving?

This year, the season starts again on May 4th with our opening day. For those of you who didn’t have the courage to try ice diving this year, it means you’ll be able to dive again after a long winter.

The Quarry isn’t open every day to avoid making you prune, so here’s our schedule:

Where is the Quarry?

The Kahnawake Quarry isn’t far from our store, located on Sherbrooke in NDG. The dive site can be reached by taking the Mercier Bridge and accessing Route 132. The Quarry is near the Mohawk Super Bingo sign and is located behind Sport 138.

What Makes the Quarry a Great Dive Site?

The Quarry is the only dive site that reaches a depth of 30 metres (100 ft) near Montreal. It’s basically a large, sandy beach for adults, fish, vegeration, and vertical rock walls make it an interesting dive site.

The site is organized in such a way that divers have the best possible diving experience. There are benches designed to mount equipment properly and get it on your back safely. Our dock facilitates easy entry and exit to the water. There’s also a toilet and a container with individual changing cabins so you have your privacy. Picnic tables are also available so you can take a break and appreciate your surface intervals between dives.

Total Diving is a community of divers, not just a store, and that’s why the Quarry is such a great dive site. Whether you’ve just completed your PADI Open Water certification, or are a seasoned Master Scuba Diver, there are always people who are ready to dive with you. If you don’t have a buddy, you’ll definitely be able to find one. This is a great way to expand your contacts!

How Does It Work To Dive?

In order to come to the Quarry, it’s simple! You just need a proof of certification. Whether you’re a free diver or diving with a tank (or 3), we’re waiting for you.

There’s also a fee of $20 for scuba divers and snorkelers/free divers. There’s nowhere to rent equipment or fill your tanks on site, but stop by our store near the Quarry so you can get yourself ready for your next dive.

A Few Rules To Keep The Site Clean

The Quarry is located on the Mohawk Reservation of Kahnawake and we have privileged access to it. It’s been several years since Total Diving made this agreement with our Mohawk partners, and we want to preserve it! That’s why you should help us take care of the site by respecting a few rules.

  1. Don’t bring glass
  2. Clean up your garbage
  3. Drive slowly (<10km/h)
  4. Do not drink alcohol
  5. Do not use drugs
