PADI’s EFR (Emergency First Response) course focuses on creating divers who can respond to emergencies with ease. Build your confidence as a diver and become a better buddy with this course. You will receive CPR and first aid training that is obviously applicable to both diving situations and your day-to-day life. The EFR course is based on internationally recognized medical guidelines for emergency care.
The EFR Course teaches you how to handle life-threatening emergencies. You will practice skills that aid patients who aren’t breathing, have no heartbeat, might be in shock, have a serious spinal injury, or who might be seriously bleeding. By learning how to monitor your patient, you’ll be better equipped to help in a medical emergency. You will also focus on skills that can provide aid beyond basic CPR, which may focus on easing pain or reducing the risk of further harm.
The EFR course itself is required to complete the PADI Rescue Diver course. So, to become a Rescue Diver you must be an Advanced Open Water diver. Beyond that, the course is designed for beginners, and doesn’t have any more prerequisites.
