Military-grade performance

The MTX-R is extremely reliable. Several areas of the regulator have been reinvented and improved to reduce risk of free flow in extreme cold water environments. The addition of an innovative endcap and the unique over-balanced diaphragm design have allowed the diver to go deeper in colder temperatures.It is only of the only regulators on the consumer market that can perform in near-freezing water at depths of over 190 feet. The first stage is specifically designed to prevent ice build up, effectively prevent free flow. It meets all aspects of the NEDU (Navy Experimental Dive Unit) military requirements. The MTX-R is dependable and always ready to go.

Dry sealed diaphragm

The MTX-R’s diaphragm is compact environmentally dry sealed, which completely eliminates the maintenance issues associated with silicone, oil or grease filling. The innovative over-molded first-stage endcap from Apeks is incorporated into the MTX-R’s design specifically to prevent ice build-up that can cause first stage free flow in extreme circumstances. The forged first stage body with heat exchanging ribs provides maximum thermal performance. Also, the diaphragm clamp is ribbed to improve heat exchange in cold water conditions.

Diver changeable exhaust system (DCE)

The MTX-R, along with other top Apeks regulators, includes an innovative diver changeable exhaust system (DCE). This all-new system gives the diver the ability to change from a small exhaust tee to a large exhaust tee. Both exhaust tees are included with the regulator. The larger exhaust tee is perfect for photography as it provides minimal bubble interference. The smaller exhaust tee is more compact and is therefore more comfortable. The regulator can be converted from a right-hand configuration to a left-hand configuration by a technician. It’s suitable for cold-water use (below 10°C). It’s compatible with EAN 40 when new. It has an over-balanced first stage for superior performance at greater depths. An environmental dry system keeps water out of the main spring chamber of the first stage, which prevents ice buildup and contamination.
