Your Total Scuba Guide for Dive Gear

Thanks for stopping by! We hope to scuba dive with you somewhere on this planet, one day!

We are producing this "Total Scuba Guide" for quite a few reasons. Let me, first, explain who is Total Diving.

    Who is Total Diving?

Total Diving is a National Geographic dive center and PADI Career Development Center located in Montreal, Canada.

On top of our traditional brick & mortar dive store in Montreal, we operate an online dive shop at Shop.TotalDiving.com.

You can find information on our scuba diving products and services on the Shop.TotalDiving.com website and find out more about us, scuba diving freaks, on the "About Us" section of that dive shop website.

    Why a Total Scuba Guide?

The internet is great… It puts information in everybody’s hands. But it can also be a nightmare because there is just as much misinformation as there is information on the internet.

In our dive shop and on our online scuba diving shopping website, we were always facing the same "general" questions about scuba diving – questions like: What do I "need" to start scuba diving? What scuba diving courses should I take first? What dive gear do I need? Should I rent scuba diving equipment or buy my own dive gear? Should I do the PADI Advanced Open Water scuba diving course right after the PADI Open Water diver course or later? Where should I go for my first dive trip? Is a scuba diving trip on a live-aboard for me? What is technical diving? How do I start in technical diving? What should I do if I want to work in the dive industry? How do I become a dive professional?

We really couldn’t cover all of that general scuba diving information on our dive shop website designed to let you shop for specific Total Diving dive gear, scuba diving courses and dive trips.

We needed a general "Scuba Guide" to serve as a reference for information on scuba diving equipment, dive trips and scuba diving courses.

That’s how this Total Scuba Guide was born.

Your feedback is welcome. Please also submit any suggestion of topics you might have.

For information on specific scuba diving equipment offered by
Total Diving in its Montreal dive store and online,
please visit the dive gear section of Shop.TotalDiving.com.

Who are the Total Scuba Guide Authors?

Darcy Kieran is the Editor of this Total Scuba Guide. If you have articles you’d like to contribute to it, please contact him.

He owns Total Diving, but that’s really not important… What is more interesting is the extensive experience he has in scuba diving and his long list of achievements in the scuba diving world.

He is a Gold-level PADI Course Director training PADI scuba diving instructor, a DAN Examiner, a DSAT TecRec technical diving instructor trainer, a CMAS moniteur fédéré (that’s like a PADI Course Director), an EFR Instructor Trainer for first aid and CPR training, a PSI instructor for visual inspection of cylinders, a TDI technical diving instructor and the list goes on…

Contact him with any and all of your questions. Or… Post comments on this scuba guide website!

Either way… Let’s get wet soon, OK? Talking about scuba diving is cool, but… Scuba diving for real is more cool!
